Hitchin is comfortably our busiest Luton Airport route, and it is easy to see why. The town sits barely twelve miles east on the A505, close enough that a fixed-price car undercuts the hassle of wrestling suitcases onto the Thameslink at Luton or changing at Stevenage. It is a proper North Hertfordshire commuter town — King's Cross is around half an hour by train — so Hitchin travels a lot, for work and for holidays, and we run the route around the clock: an early hop to the terminal for a 6am Gatwick connection, or a driver waiting when a long-haul lands at 1am. Most journeys are the SG4 and SG5 streets around the Market Place, Walsworth and Westmill, plus the newer estates out towards Ickleford.

The route

Pickup at Luton, drop in Hitchin.

Standard pickup is at Terminal Car Park 2. From there it is a clear run east on the A505 through Offley — about twenty minutes door to door off-peak. On weekday mornings (8–9am) the A505 into town and Park Way can add ten minutes, so for an early check-in the driver sets off with a little in hand and will divert via Pirton or Offley if it snarls up. The Luton Airport drop-off charge is built into your fixed quote, so there is nothing to settle at the barrier.

Standard pickup (free)

Driver waits at Terminal Car Park 2 — a 7-minute covered walk from Luton arrivals. They text the moment your flight lands, so after a quick A505 run you are back in Hitchin in around twenty minutes, bags and all.

Meet and greet (+£15)

Prefer to be met? For £15 your driver waits inside arrivals with a name board and gives you a hand with the cases — worth it after a long-haul back into Luton, or when the kids are tired and you just want to get on the road to Hitchin.

Local knowledge

From the Market Place to the lavender fields

We know the fiddly bits of a Hitchin run — the one-way system around Bancroft and Sun Street, the narrow lanes out to Pirton and Gosmore, and the school-run crawl on the A505 and Park Way between 8 and 9am. If it is backed up the driver cuts through Offley or Pirton so you still make check-in, and the fixed price never moves whichever way they go.

Off-peak it is about 20 minutes on the A505. Between 8 and 9am on weekdays it can stretch to 30 — your driver allows for it and will cut through Offley or Pirton if the A505 is heavy, so you still make your check-in.
